EL SANTO MACHINA

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

this is a soundtrack to your reflections of sorrow at lake regret. the movie is a road trip, a journey down rural highways. the jams don't jam, instead, they use a jam language translator to convert the stripped down guitar/drum interplay into a more commited thick repetition consistency. this intimate instrumental free-rock band interprets the shapelessness of the great lakes and lonesome travels down dusk's dirt roads to create a sprawling down home/less angular sonic youth sound. there is a serious commitment to midwestern style repetition. the controlled consistency and reductionist theory of this quasi improvised music drags the listener (tied to the back of the truck) along a nostalgic michigan landscape. el santo machina is a bass drout cyclicly folding and unfolding like old wrapping paper.

el santo machina originally grew out of the detroit freak scene groop ESP BEETLES, which included sgott on drums and warn on guitar. warn has spent the last ten years playing in HIS NAME IS ALIVE (4AD). sgott has also made appearences in that band as well. sgott and warn developed a psychic bond early on when they started playing music together as mere children in 1986. sgott worked for years protecting endangered species (barton springs salamander) at a springfed swimmin hole in texas and warn spent four summers working as a corn detasseler in canada.
